It enables you to easily monitor and manage network security technologies (agents) across a variety of platforms through single interface, plus respond to threat detection and alerts before they become a problem.

How it works

MNSS can be broken down into two broad areas: network security, relating to the management of the web proxy along with virtual and physical firewalls, and server workload protection, which uses pre-emptive protection to thwart local and network-based attacks.

Both the network security and server workload protection areas actively monitor security agents to ensure that they are working as intended. The service also gives you real-time access to a global threat analysis service and IBM’s Virtual Security Operations Centre.

Server workload protection

The server workload protection element provides continuous monitoring with incident escalation if a threat is detected. It also includes anti-malware and uses web-reputation databases to block access to malicious web sites. Intrusion detection, file-integrity monitoring, security event logs and advanced analytics, which enables you to gain insights into attempted attacks, are also provided.

Deployment of MNSS consists of an initial data-gathering phase to discover customer requirements. Agents are then configured based on identified needs and the OS undergoes a ‘hardening’ process that reduces its exposure to security threats. After the agents are activated, testing and verification occurs before full-service activation and handover to the client.
