UEM: BlackBerry
The Blackberry Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) system is designed to provide organisations with a comprehensive means of managing endpoints – from computers, mobiles and other devices to apps, content and data – securely. This can be self-hosted or managed securely through the cloud.
BlackBerry UEM works across the following platforms: iOS, Android, macOS, Windows 10 and BlackBerry 10. All endpoints are managed via a single dashboard that can be accessed through a web browser. Endpoints can include employee-owned devices on supported packages.
The Blackberry UEM is designed to provide an inclusive, multiplatform device, app and content management system. Two package types are available: BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) licenses are charged per user, each licence covering up to five devices. BlackBerry Gold and Silver Licences are also available, charged on a per-device (server or SIM) basis.
Five different BlackBerry EMS licences are available depending on your individual needs:
Management Edition: provides mobile device and application management capabilities. Includes the ability to set up an enterprise app store and provide secure access to corporate intranet and documents as well as a secure web browser.
Enterprise Edition: includes all the features of the Management Edition, plus adds an all-in-one secure email, calendar and contacts service (Blackberry Work) and the ability to separate corporate and personal information on devices.
Collaboration Edition: builds on the Enterprise Edition by adding instant messaging and the ability to both remotely access and edit business files stored on cloud servers such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Box using BlackBerry applications.
Application Edition: all the features of the Collaboration Edition, plus support for deploying custom applications and additional security features, including two-factor authentication.
Content Edition: includes all features in other editions, plus adds secure file sync and sharing, the ability to control access to shared files, and file-sharing tracking for auditing and compliance.
Alternatively, users can opt for Blackberry Gold and Silver Licences, which can be purchased either as a server licence or as a SIM-based licence provisioned via the Vodafone network:
Silver Licence: Provides the same set of features as EMS Management Edition.
Gold Licence: Provides the same set of features as EMS Collaboration Edition.
