Vodafone Total Workforce Mobility; Orbis Lone Worker Protection offers a suite of mobile applications, technologies and services to help those who work in the field. Orbis Lone Worker Protection Service makes it possible to provide mobile workers in potentially vulnerable situations to quickly receive aid and assistance.

The Service works with existing smartphones (Android or iOS) and standard phones supporting speed dial, or users can opt for a specialist GPS device with simple controls (including dedicated panic button), two-way communication and fall sensors.

How it works

Orbis Lone Worker Protection Service provides two levels of protection. First, the Red Alert Activation and Response service provides mobile workers with the ability to raise an alert, either in the event of a fall on supported devices with fall sensors, or by discreetly pressing the SOS button.

The Red Alert is relayed to a 24/7 alarm receiving centre (ARC). ARC operators listen in, assess and – if appropriate – communicate with the user. The GPS location is obtained and then ARC operators follow your bespoke escalation procedures before – if necessary – informing emergency services or pre-defined contacts as directed.

In addition, Amber Alerts allow lone workers to leave a brief message before embarking on a potentially dangerous job. The message should include their address or location. They then input the expected duration of their visit into a countdown timer. If the timer expires or they manually trigger a Red Alert, the message is then relayed to the operator to help pinpoint their location.
