Switched Ethernet Wireline
Vodafone Switched Ethernet Wireline (EWL) enables companies and organisations to link two or more remote sites together by connecting their local networks together. The result is a single, fast Local Area Network (LAN) capable of supporting all Ethernet traffic, from data to voice and video.
Switched EWL delivers fast, reliable performance, and offers a wide range of bandwidth options from 10Mbps to 10Gbps that can be tailored for each individual site depending on its needs, location and existing infrastructure.
Vodafone Switched Ethernet Wireline supports Ethernet connectivity between two or more sites in a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configuration using an ‘Ethernet virtual circuit’ (EVC). This effectively joins the sites together into a single Local Area Network (LAN).
Data is transmitted through the EVC across Vodafone’s Multi Service Platform (MSP) network, with each physical site connecting to it through one of over 50 available physical Points of Presence (PoP) worldwide.
Switched EWL provides the base service – the MSAB, or Multi-Service Access Bearer – to connect each local site to the MSP network. Two MSAB packages are available: Bearer Standard and Bearer Extra.
The Standard option is available in the UK only, and will appeal to those working to a tight budget. It allows users to continue using an off-net third-party NTE in addition to the on-net Vodafone NTE. A single LAN port provides the connection to and from the PoP, supporting up to 1Gbps bandwidth.
Bearer Extra provides up to 10Gbps bandwidth and can be used to connect sites globally. Because Vodafone installs its own NTE as part of this option, there are additional benefits in the form of multiple LAN ports, performance reporting options, proactive monitoring up to the NTE, and end-to-end service testing across all EVCs.
Each site requires just one connection to the MSP, which helps reduce equipment and installation costs.
Prioritise different types of internet traffic using three levels (Premium, Enhanced or Standard) to meet critical and latency intolerant demands such as voice and video.
Enjoy up to 10Gbps bandwidth to ensure your sites can share and transmit information quickly.
Expand your network bandwidth as circumstances demand at short notice – either short-term ‘bursts’ for one-off needs or long-term upgrades to reflect a growing demand for more bandwidth.
