Glossary

We know that terminology can be confusing within the Public Sector, so we’ve compiled a brief glossary of definitions for some or the common terms you might come across on our portal. We hope you find it useful.

Standard Service Offering (SSO)

A product that is available for direct award and comes under one of the ‘Lots’ into which other SSOs with a similar purpose are grouped.

Crown Commercial Service (CCS)

An executive agency sponsored by the Cabinet Office that brings together policy, advice and direct buying. It provides commercial services to the Public Sector, and by making sure those services are fairly and sensibly chosen, saves money for the taxpayer.

Network Services Framework (NSF)

A procurement framework that provides access to network and telecommunications services with a choice of competitive tendering options, plus a catalogue for Direct Award orders.

Government Digital Services (GDS)

The part of the Cabinet Office that leads the digital transformation of government and runs the gov.uk website.

Digital Market Place

The e-portal where customers can access the supplier service offerings available for G-Cloud 9.

Digital Government Market Place

The e-Portal for Network Services where customers can review supplier standard service offerings (SSOs).

Public Services Network (PSN)

The government’s high-performance network, which helps public sector organisations work together, reduce duplication and share resources.
