Buyer's Guide

Buying standard services through the Frameworks is generally faster and cheaper than entering into individual procurement contracts.

Public Sector organisations, including agencies and arm’s length bodies, can use this simple but efficient method of purchasing.

See the Network Services Framework 2 and Government eMarketplace guides
See the G-Cloud catalogue and Digital Marketplace guide

Ask the following questions:

  • What are the ‘must-haves’ and the ‘nice-to-haves’?
  • What are your technical and procurement requirements? Read the government guidance on choosing technology
  • What’s your budget?

If you’re buying for central government, you’ll first have to go through the digital and IT spend controls process

Make sure you keep a record of every stage of the buying process – showing a clear audit trail as proof that the service was bought fairly.

  1. List your needs and get approval to buy
  2. Search for services using keywords
  3. Review services – use the filters to create a shortlist
  4. Compare services to establish the best value for money
  5. Check security levels
  6. Choose a service
  7. Sign and publish the contract

We can help you refine your requirements so your organisation gets the level of support it needs.

The current G-Cloud Call Off Contract and Network Services 2 Direct Award Order Form can be found in our resources page or on the government's website (G-Cloud 11 and Network Services 2 guidance)

There are 2 methods available when buying from Network Services 2 (RM3808): (1) Direct Award; and (2) Further Competition.

With a Direct Award, you can easily procure products and services without the need to run a further competition when there is a valid Service Offer (SO) published on the Government eMarketplace. If your requirements meet the scope of the services and products provided under a relevant SO, you can procure using the Direct Award process. The first step is to contact your Account Manager who will help you to fill out the Direct Award Call Off Form.

We offer a wide range of services and products, across a number of published SOs. Please look at the service description document of your chosen solution for full details of the offers, pricing and terms available.

Guidance documents are available to download on the Network Services page. Scroll down the page and select the ‘Documents’ tab to get the relevant information.

Our standard products are available under G-Cloud 11 on the Digital Marketplace.

Once you have reviewed and verified that the service available on the Digital Marketplace matches your requirements, you can proceed with procurement by contacting your Account Manager who will help you with the Call-Off Contract process.

Please look at the Service Description document of your chosen solution. This will detail our solution, pricing and terms. Guidance documents are available to download on the G-Cloud page. Scroll down the page and select the ‘Documents’ tab to get the relevant information
